Ho impacchettato il nuovo Firefox 3.0 versione vanilla (e quindi senza patch) per Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy Heron”.
Richieda l’eleminazione del pacchetto “firefox-3.0″ e del pacchetto “firefox”
Non so se dopo un’aggiornamento del sistema si reinstalla anche firefox di ubuntu, domani indagerò (non aggiorno da 2 mesi 
)

Download: Aggiungete i miei repo dopodichè installate il pacchetto “firefox” (potrà essere necessario disinstallare il vecchio pacchetto di ubuntu)
Oppure scaricare il .deb direttamente da qui, ed installarlo con il comando sudo dpkg -i /path/a/firefox_3.0nopatch~ubu4ever3_i386.deb
MR Tech Local Install è un vero e proprio addoon e aggiunge funzioni utilissime alla vostra volpe¹ di fuoco.

Stasera ho installato Flock. Cos’è Flock? È un browser basato su Firefox ma ha alcune migliorie che permettono di postare un blog direttamente dal browser (quello che sto facendo adesso) ricercare subito foto, video…. non è male. Ma vediamolo in dettaglio:

Questa nn è l’ultima diavoleria su come rendere più veloce, più bello e più snello firefox ma come crearsi una versione personalizzata di quest’ultimo.
Ecco i passi:
- Scaricare Firefox per linux da qui
- Estrarre l’archivio
- Entrare nella direcotory firefox
- Rinominare l’eseguibile firefox-bin in <nomebrowser>-bin , dove <nomebrowser> è il nome del vostro nuovo browser.
- Rinominare lo script firefox in <nomebrowser> , dove <nome…. va bè lo sapete
- Entrare nella directory chrome
- Estrarre il file browser.jar . Apparirà la directory content
- Entrare in branding e modificare quello che vi garba
(Tranne searchconfig.properties )
- Ritornare in chrome e ri-creare l’archivio browser.jar
- Se volete, scompattate classic.jar e modificatelo. Poi ricreate l’archivio.
- Estrarre il file it.jar e entrare in locale
- Entrare in branding e modificare il file brand.properties.
- Ritornare in chrome e ricreare it.jar
Il gioco è fatto!

Ieri, usando il repository di pollycoke ho installato Gran Paradiso Alpha 7.
La prime cose che ho notato è il rendering (o meglio, il font) delle pagine:
La seconda cosa, sono i widget: finalmente! ora si adattano al tema GTK che hai messo.
Poi hanno tolto il supporto a Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) ed, stando a OSS Blog, hanno risolto molti bug.

EDIT: Mi sono dimenticato di dire, che ora, quando si seleziona un testo e/o un’immagine e la si traspora, non appare un’icona, ma proprio l’anteprima dell’ immagine e il testo.
Allora: Firefox 2.0.0.4, Tema Myfirefox, 4 pagine che contengono video di youtube aperti = rallentamento e alcune volte blocco.
Quasi quasi uso Konqueror o Epiphany. Vi succede (o vi è successo) anche a voi? Come avete risolto? Grazie a tutti quelli che mi aiuteranno. Intanto ecco un trucchetto per nn far bloccare (o rallentare) firefox:
Nn avere troppe schede con i video di youtube, google video…. aperti.
